The Costa Tote is perfect for everyday errands and shopping. It includes a lining, making it fully reversible! View A features an asymmetrical pocket design with dividing lines that create a total of four pockets. These pockets are specifically designed for your keys, phone, or sunglasses; a secure storage place for your belongings that doesn’t gape open. You can sport your pockets on the outside or the inside, your choice!

The Costa Tote is very special to me (Chloe), because it is the first pattern that I have designed for Helen’s Closet! It is so exciting to start with an idea and make it come to life. Also, I learned that pattern design is really fun and creatively fulfilling.

When I was brainstorming what I wanted for Costa, my goal was to create a useful and versatile tote bag with an easy, modern aesthetic. I am so pleased with how it turned out.

  1. The Costa Tote looks great! I love the pockets. Definitely going to be making up some of these for shopping bags with some leftover fabrics, a great stash buster and colour block project. Thanks!

  4. Hi I am new to sewing and I made this bag yesterday afternoon with some fabric I bought at a car boot sale, for 10p! I struggled a bit with the crosses, they were a bit of a mess so I am going to unpick and do again, but wondered if there was a video tutorial on how to get the crosses perfect, I looked at the costa totes made on IG and was amazed how the crosses were so neat and lovely! Thanks in advance.

    1. Thanks for sewing Costa Tracy! I am not sure if there is a video tutorial out there or not, but I think this is something that comes with practice! You will get better at the crosses over time, and remember, it’s ok if they aren’t perfect!

  5. Hi there, I have the Costa Tote pattern but cannot find the instructions, please could you send them to me? Thanks so much!
