Wednesday Weekly #40

Hello, makers!  Is anyone else looking at their list of things to make for summer and counting the actual weeks in summer and seeing that the two do not play nice?  I have so many fun, summer prints and cute patterns to make, but not enough summer to make them in!  I am also trying to make things for more than one season, but it is hard sometimes with all the summer patterns coming out.  So many great ones this week!  Check ’em out 🙂

News

Big news this week!  Tasia is moving on from Sewaholic and the awesome folks at Spool Of Thread are taking it over!  For those of you not living in Vancouver, Spool of Thread is a local sewing store that has been building up a great community here by offering courses, friendly service, and carrying all the indie patterns we know and love.  I look forward to seeing what they do with Sewaholic, they have every intention of keeping it going and continuing to provide excellent patterns.  Congrats to both Tasia and Spool of Thread!

The family issue of Seamwork came out last week and as always, two new patterns were included.  I’m quite smitten with both of them, especially those weston shorts!

Peggy from Sew House Seven has taken the plunge into full-time pattern designer and blogger!  Congrats, Peggy!  Check out her latest pattern, the Tea-house top and dress, it is seriously awesome – I am gonna make one.

Itch to Stitch is on a roll with another new pattern, the Vienna Tank!

Indie-Sew released their summer collection, all comprised of great knit patterns from Seamly.  Get comfortable in the summer heat with these simple staples.

Charlotte Kan released the Kitsune dress, a beautiful strapless silhouette with an interesting tie-front detail.

Straight Stitch Designs has a free pattern for us to enjoy, the Carkeek dress!  It looks like a great sundress, perfect for quick summer sewing.

Blueprints For Sewing is having a pattern cover art contest for the saltbox tank, so if you have artistic skills you should check it out!

  1. Great Wednesday Weekly (as always!) and thank-you for bringing Sew House Seven to my attention. They were not on my radar and I really like the looks of that Tea-house pattern!
