Happy Wednesday! I hope your May is full of sunshine and spring flowers! I had a fantastic sewing date with some friends here in town last weekend and it got me thinking – do you sew with friends? I used to think it would be a real pain to get transport my machine and equipment somewhere, but once you do it, you realize it’s not so bad! It is so nice to share my passion for sewing with others and the hum of several machines going at once is like music to my ears. If you can, try sewing with a friend!

Oh my gosh…SUNAD…now I want to completely ditch my whimsical wardrobe! The clothing is gorgeous!

I love seeing everything Bee Made does. I don’t think we have the same style, but somehow I love everything she makes! Maybe I aspire to her style. 🙂
I love it too! She is braver than me with her makes, but it always inspires me.
Having been (and still am!) on a shirt making roller coaster ride over the past few months, I was stopped in my tracks by that gorgeous red/white striped shirt by Sunad. WOW. Why haven’t I made one in a stripe?? Maybe my Kalle by Heather Lou (Closet Case) will be the one 🙂 I’ve discovered I do enjoy making shirts despite the ever ongoing fitting challenges. Out of 6 I’ve made I’m really only happy with one 🙁 Most of my dissatisfaction stems from not-quite-right fabric. The one I’m working on now is a lovely drapey green linen with dupioni (pearls inset on this 1/4 M I picked up at Gala in Victoria in their remnants for some insane price – $60?) collar. I’ve already done a practice run in cotton – and to be honest I’m sorely tempted for another practice run because the fit was so off (this one I’m working on is not the Kalle but the J. Stern’s Blouse Fit by the Cupful. Great pattern for fit instructions but oddly the fit was off at least for me 🙂
Shirt-making is such a fun challenge, I really enjoy it too. I can’t wait to get started on Kalle and I am also working on my first Cheyanne Tunic. Have you ever tried Itch to Stitch? She often has cup sizing and I have found her patterns are really well drafted. Once you get the fit right, you can make 100! Hang in there 🙂 That linen dupioni sounds delightful.
