Holmes has been such a welcome addition to my wardrobe and I’m sure it will be for many of you too. One of the most exciting things about this new design is that it is compatible with an existing design as well! This is our first time doing this and I am really excited about it. How does this work?
The Holmes bodice features the same partial drawstring casing as Lazo. We love this finish because the waist is adjustable to suit your personal preferences. The waist is identical across both of these patterns so you can put the Lazo bodice on the Holmes skirt and the Holmes bodice on the Lazo pants/shorts for 4 more views!
How do you make the new views?
We have created a free crossover instruction booklet for you! Download this booklet to get all the information you need about fabric requirements and construction. Don’t worry, we have kept things really simple and straightforward. These patterns are very compatible with one another.
The samples
We made the Holmes bodice and Lazo pants view in 7.5 oz denim and we are loving this look! We also tried the Lazo bodice with the longer Holmes skirt and created our dream summer dress. Truly, the possibilities are endless!
The denim view is so much fun and it is reminiscent of mechanics overalls. I’m excited to see how this looks with wear - I am hoping it gets that worn-in vintage denim patina. It is nice to have a jumpsuit that offers waist definition when I want it, but is also really comfortable and relaxed.
The cotton block print is so floaty and dreamy. I can totally see myself wearing this all summer long! I love this style of dress for around the house in warmer weather, and I’m always reaching for quick layers to throw on when I head to the beach. I could see this one styled for summer date nights and BBQs too! It's really comfortable and it feels effortless.
I would like to try making the Holmes bodice with the Lazo shorts next! I think that would be super cute for summer.
