Caroline and I both made button up shirts over on the Love to Sew podcast recently! I made the Assembly Line Oversized Shirt and I am super pleased with how it turned out. Let’s take a look!

This button up is really nice and simple. It has a fold over front placket and a simplified sleeve placket, making it a quick sew and a great pattern for people who are newer to these techniques. I love the extra long and oversized fit. It was exactly what I was looking for!

The pattern came with inseam pockets but I opted not to sew them. This fabric is nice and drapey and lightweight and I did not feel the pocket would hang well if I added it. I also don’t think I would use it.

I loved working with this handwoven cotton fabric! It is incredibly soft and it was easy to sew. The vertical stripes are classic but the colour is nice and bright and bold. I played with the direction of the stripe on the back yoke and I love this look. I also love the back loop detail!

I’ve paired this shirt with a pair of Falconer Pants in Bull Denim. I have been wearing these a ton, I love the weight of this fabric and the colour is perfect for fall.

I am super pleased with my new button up and I would totally sew this pattern again. It is a great quick button up and it achieves that oversized shirt look that I was going for. Head over to the Love to Sew Podcast to see Caroline’s button up and to listen to the episode!
