I’m so excited to welcome my mom to the blog today to show off some of her recent Helen’s Closet makes! I may have twisted her arm just a little bit to get her to let me take these photos, but it was so worth it because look how great this outfit is!? Head to toe so cute and on-trend. Well done, mom!
This outfit is made up of our Arden Pants pattern (view A, no cuff) and our Cameron Button Up pattern (with a slightly modified sleeve). She made the pants in double gauze and she said they are so comfortable and she gets lots of compliments on them! I am really keen to make a double gauze pair for myself now, too!
She made the top in a rayon crepe which I just have to say, is NOT an easy fabric to sew a button up with! She said it was a bit challenging and she ended up not being happy with the sleeve plackets. Again, I blame the rayon crepe. She cut them off in a bit of a moment of frustration and ended up with elbow length sleeves that look super cute when rolled up! She plans to tack the roll in place so it doesn’t collapse and she can always wear it like this. I agree, it is so cute! Once again I would like to copy her.
I am teaching her how to do the french tuck with her shirts and she is getting more and more into it. Of course, french tucks aren't for everybody but I do think it looks really great with this outfit. A full tuck would also look really cute.
In the background of these photos you can see my mom’s beautiful garden and the lovely archway that my dad built. You can also see their house (where I grew up). I’m wearing our Lawrence Dress in these photos. I aspire to have a garden as lush as my mom’s one day! Thank you, mom, for stopping by on the blog and for sewing my patterns!
