Quilted Knit Linden Sweatshirt

It's no secret that I am a Grainline Studio fan, their patterns fit me really well and are very wearable. I love that they all go well together so it is easy to make a handmade wardrobe that really works. This week I made the Linden Sweatshirt and it is every bit as cozy as people say! full_verticle4verticle2 verticle1 horizontal3 This lovely box quilted knit came from Blackbird Fabrics, an online fabric retailer who happens to be located in Vancouver! It is really awesome to have such quality fabrics available in Canada. I ordered several different kinds of fabric from them for my first order and I am very impressed with the quality of every single one. You can still purchase this quilted knit on their website, so this sweater could be yours! The interior of the fabric is not as pillowy soft as the exterior, it is a black almost mesh-like material. The fabric frayed more than I was expecting, so I ended up using french seams. This did result in a bulkier seam, but it is preferable to having exposed edges. horizontal2horizontal1full_verticle5 I like the simple silhouette of the sweater, even though it is not my usual style. I tend to go for a tight fitted hoodie or a very loose fitted knit sweater. I don't actually own a classic pullover, so it is a great addition to my wardrobe. The pattern on the fabric is subtle but very eye-catching and unique. I think it really adds a nice flare to this simple piece. I would make the Linden Sweatshirt again, and I may experiment with a longer version. full_verticle3 full_verticle2 I am also sporting my first Granger Book Bag here in some of these shots. I LOVE this bag. It really is the perfect size for my day-to-day activities, I can fit my camera, a notebook, a scarf and gloves, umbrella, and all my other junk in there no problem!
