Lockhart is one of my favourite patterns we have released to date and I’m so glad that you all like it as much as I do! Thank you for your support this week! Today I want to share my most recent Lockhart, which is pretty much my dream jumpsuit!
I chose to make this Lockhart using a cotton/linen twill from Blackbird Fabrics in the colourway “firecracker”. This fabric has the feel of linen with the stability of a cotton twill. I opted to make the midi-length view of the jumpsuit with the wide straps. Lockhart offers both dress and jumpsuit views with four length options and your choice of narrow or wide straps.
I did not change the pattern at all for this version other than my usual 1” (2.5 cm) rise adjustment. I also always add ~1” (2.5 cm) to the legs for my height. I chose to interface both the outer and lining bodice pieces for extra support and structure. This is optional but it works really well if you plan to wear the jumpsuit/dress without a bra like me.
Lockhart works great in light flowy fabrics like rayon or fabrics with a bit more structure like mid weight linen. This red fabric is more on the structured side and it shows in the way the legs hold their shape.
I’m so in love with this bold Lockhart Jumpsuit! It has been on my mind since we designed this pattern and it was really fun to see it come to life. I know I’ll enjoy wearing this one in the spring/summer and I can also see it transitioning pretty well to fall and winter as well. Perhaps layered over a thin Dawson Top turtleneck? Paired with some cute boots? I’m excited to give it a try.
