I recently took a little weekend trip to Las Vegas and I made some fun outfits for the occasion. It is always nice to have a reason to sew new things, especially for traveling! I’ve had this black and white squiggle print in my stash for a couple years and I have always struggled with what to make with it. When Vegas was the destination, suddenly a lightbulb went off in my mind. This print is perfect!
To make this faux-jumpsuit matching set I used our Gilbert Top and our June Pants pattern. I love both of these patterns and consider them to be wardrobe staples. They work really well together for a matching set like this!
This fabric is a custom print from Blackbird Fabrics a while back. It is an Ecovero twill, so it feels similar to a Tencel twill. It is nice and drapey while still feeling hefty. I really like this fabric for that reason! I made the Gilbert Top one size larger that my usual size to make it a little bit slouchier.
I absolutely loved wearing this “jumpsuit” around Vegas! It was super comfortable and I felt really put together. I saw people looking at me and I did get several compliments. I don’t think this look is for everyone, but I certainly had fun with it and that is what counts!
I enjoy wearing this as a set or as separates. When worn together, it can look a little bit like Pajamas, but in a good way! I styled it with a high ponytail and some custom beaded earrings that I also made for the occasion.
These earrings are made from Miyuki Seed Beads and were really fun to make. I’ve recently gotten back into beading (I used to do it as a kid) and I love it! It’s so fun to put together different colours and come up with different designs. If you are looking for a good beading resource, check out Snails and Fairydust for patterns and tutorials on her Youtube. I designed these ones myself in illustrator. What do you think? Are you interested in a pattern?
I’m excited to have both of these articles in my wardrobe, and the earrings are the cherry on top!
