This dress offers a nice fit in the shoulders, a high or low neck (because it is reversible) and room underneath for several 30 pound turkeys. Sew it up in record time for that last minute party, too, can you ask for anything more?

I chose this lovely printed poly from Blackbird Fabrics for my Sway, because it was obviously destined to be a party frock. It has these lovely gold details that sparkle and shine just the right amount for a little flare. I had a little trouble getting the center front and back seam to lie flat due to a combination of tricky fabric that doesn't press well and some tension issues with my machine, but I smoothed it out best I could.

The Sway dress has a center front and back seam, which could be easily eliminated if needed. I kind of wish I had, because pattern matching down the front and back was quite challenging *cough* impossible *cough*, but I think I don’t think it is noticeable with this busy print.

The neckline and armholes are finished with a facing, which is the most challenging part of this pattern. Getting a nice, pressed, facing and understitching on poly, man alive is it hard!
Do you have a favourite holiday silhouette or pattern? Or a fabric in your stash that is just dying to become a party dress? ‘Tis the season!
