Our friends Malinda and Andy are hosting our wedding and we are so lucky to be able to have it on their gorgeous property. They have a big field and a beautiful garden and it’s going to be spectacular. We have been making improvements and working on the property and garden over the past year to prepare for the wedding and one of the projects we did was painting this barn/shed!
This barn used to house goats and is now a storage shed. It is quite visible from where we wanted to put the wedding tent. We thought it would be nice to spruce it up and since we love a good crafty project - why not do a fun paint job with a pattern of some kind!?

We decided on a nice blue paint for the base coat. It was really fun painting over all the old wood and boarded up windows. This shed is old and may not last much longer but at least it will be pretty until it is gone! We have a weekly craft night group and so we spent four Tuesday evenings working on this project together. It was amazing to have so much help to pull this off!

Once the shed was blue I got to work designing the flowers. I pulled inspiration from lots of images on Pinterest. I picked an easy colour palette that I thought we could mix up from other colours. Exterior paint is pricey so we wanted to make sure we weren't going too crazy. I did this mockup in adobe illustrator.

We started by chalking out some of the lines on the barn. My mockup was just a general guideline so we ended up adding flowers and filling in areas where needed. We also used the paint colours we had and didn’t worry too much about getting it perfect. There are lots of imperfections and drips but from a distance, it really pops and looks amazing!

We could not be happier with how this project turned out. Every time I see this shed I am just so happy! It really is a highlight of their yard now and I would LOVE to paint more exteriors like this. It was so fun!
