Wednesday Weekly #15

Wednesday Weekly Helen's Closet Has anyone else thought about moving back their sewing plans by one season? It seems funny that fashion is designed and shown months and months in advance of the next season, but it also makes a ton of sense. While I'm finishing up my fall sewing list (or at least the items I was able to get to), I am already wishing I had some of these items months earlier. I think I may start my spring sewing early this year, so I can enjoy the Spring items in the Spring, Summer items in Summer, etc. I'll probably eat my words when I'm sewing sweaters in August, but it could work, right? News: Heather from Closet Case Files released her latest pattern, the Clare Coat! There are no words for how awesome this coat is. I can't wait to make my own version! I seriously can't decide between classic black or pop of colour. Both you say? Interesting... Chinelo Bally's new book, Freehand Fashion, is creating quite a stir in the sewing community. The book features some really lovely silhouettes and all the looks can be made without a pattern! The Winter Indie Sew pattern collection is here! I love all of the patterns included in this collection, and will definitely be making some this season. Makes Sara looks so comfortable and stylish in her cozy oversized Archer. It looks like a great winter piece, and that plaid has such lovely colours. I am so captivated by the bodice on Camille's Carmen Dress, and the polka dots of course. How cool is that little dip in the front? Two amazing Inari Tees this week. I am still on the fence about this silhouette for me, but these two could change my mind! Check out Charlie's version here and Helen's version here. Heather's velvet maternity skirt is so. freaking. awesome. It makes me want to get pregnant, no joke! I love the bold print and colour on Mokosha's jacket. Jenny shared an Appleton Dress roundup, you've definitely gotta check out all of these lovely ladies in their new wrap dresses. Lori made the Grainline Morris blazer in a gorgeous stripe. Resources Jenny shared her tips for sewing successful coats - just in time for the Clare Coat madness! Colette from Sew Tesutti shared an excellent tutorial for inserting an invisible zipper, and a tutorial for how to attach your facing to your zipper. Inspiration I fell in love with these darling tea bag paintings by Ruby Silvious, particularly the garment inspired ones. Ive always thought that tea bags looked like little folded shirts, so cute! paintingteabags1
