Wednesday Weekly #31

Howdy makers! It has been a very exciting week for me because I just got my very own Serger! I went with the Juki MO654de and you can expect a full overview of the machine along with 2 cents about beginner sergers in the next week. Needless to say it has already changed my sewing and I am really thrilled about all the possibilities moving forward. I am one lucky girl to have gotten my Juki as a Birthday present from my parents - thank you both so much!!! Helen's Closet Wednesday Weekly Makes I was so inspired by this project from Grosgrain Green, she made a scout dress by adding a gathered skirt to the scout tee pattern from Grainline Studio. She also did some really cool block printing on the fabric pieces after she cut them out to achieve this look, I really want to try this! This colour-blocked shift dress from A Colourful Canvas totally stole my heart. Anya’s chic and casual hudson joggers are just perfect, I can’t wait to make a black pair myself. I have been obsessively looking at all the Inari’s out there this week because I am working on my first version. This beautiful black and white Inari from We The Sewing is so cool. I also love this sleeveless number from Fabric Tragic. How many dresses do you think Roisin from Dolly Clackett has made? It is seriously impressive stuff. Her latest landscape print dress is to die for. Two great outfits from Bellemegan this week! Those pants look very comfortable and go perfectly with that top. Katie’s latest faux-croptop-and-skirt dress is really neat. I am always too intimidated to try patterns that don’t come with English instructions, but this is very encouraging! The sleeves on this blouse from Sewionista are amazing. Last but not least, this Riding jacket from Idle Fancy is EVERYTHING. I was literally looking at it and going ‘omg omg omg omg omg’, don’t miss this one! Resources I joined the stash busting Facebook group after reading this post from Heather B. I need all the help stash busting I can get! Christine’s recap of her indigo dyeing class was so cool! I love how the prints turned out. Colette shows us how to make thread chains two ways. The second one was new to me! Inspiration A great post on getting a business started from In The Folds. I always love seeing what Jen from Grainline Studio is planning for her seasonal wardrobes. Some very interesting art about the things we own and thoughts on recycling from Blueprints For Sewing. This tie-back gingham shirt featured on Atlantic-Pacific is stunning. I think I want to try making this by modifying the alder shirtdress pattern. tieback
