Wednesday Weekly #4

Happy Wednesday folks! I hope you are all enjoying the last few weeks of summer - I can't believe how fast it has gone by! I think the fact that I've been non-stop sewing might be contributing to my lack of awareness, but I have no regrets! News I shared a sneak peak of my first pdf pattern design, the Granger Book Bag, on Instagram this week. I am so excited to release this at the end of November, it will be perfect for holiday gifts! Over the next couple of months I will be sharing tutorial content to help prep the skills needed to create this bag, as well as sharing my pattern tests to give you ideas for your bags. Granger Book Bag Makes Rachel made the Bruyere shirt from Deer & Doe Patterns. I have been crushing on this shirt for a while now, I love that it can be long enough to be a tunic kind of dress over leggings and tall boots. Teresa made a fantastic version of the Cascade Duffle coat by Grainline Studios. This coat is on my fall/winter sewing list - I can't wait to get started on it! Teresa did a fantastic job and props to her for taking on a challenging project with such gusto! Those welt pockets are really awesome. Andrea has perfected the Ginger Jeans, these look totally flawless! Helen used her sewing skills for good this week and taught some friends how to make their own skirts. Jasika got a jump on Sewing Indie Month with her Bonnel Dress by Dixie DIY. I am in the middle of making mine and thanks to her post I realized why mine was fitting so poorly - I completely missed the side bust dart, DOH! At least now the mystery is solved...time to get the stitch ripper. I am in love with Julie's photos from her Sway dress shoot. She really captured the movement and ease of the dress. Roisin is back from glamorous Paris! Her McCall's 6696 is too cute with it's little anchor buttons. Fiona took Tilly's online course on how to sew knits and the results speak for themselves. Kelley made some seriously awesome yoga pants using the Hudson pant pattern by True Bias. Resources Holly shared some great basic tips for cutting fabric on the Megan Nielsen blog. Sarah shows us how to make a rolled hem on a knit using an overlocker. Sarai imparts her wisdom about thinking garments through before you start sewing. Discoveries Novita shared her amazing swimsuit this week, and told us all about the mandatory 5- 10 minute rest every hour in Japanese swimming pools. My dear friend Drew shared this Talking Heads song with me this week and I can't get it out of my head!
