So now you may be wondering, ‘what is the appeal, then? Why are you so obsessed?’ Well, let me start by saying they are really fun to wear! They swoosh about and feel quite glamorous indeed. This length doesn’t hit the floor, so they are easy to move around in, with no risk of catching the fabric on the ground. They make you look long and, in my humble opinion, very elegant. The high-fashion edge makes me feel pretty cool, too, which is always nice. Sure, most men don’t understand them, but who cares!? If I made all my fashion choices trying to ensure men would ‘get’ my outfit, it would be nothing but bodycon dresses and yoga pants. Clothing should be fun, and believe me, these are a riot.
I think one of the things that makes the Winslows the perfect pattern for trying the culottes trend, is that in a drapey fabric, they look very much like a skirt. For you curvy ladies, this is a great way to get the look of a skirt with the added benefit of fabric between the legs. On a hot day, I really appreciate not having my skin rub while I walk. The deep pleats in this design give plenty of ease around the hips making these incredibly comfortable.
