For those of you who follow along with me on Instagram, you may remember this fabric from a few weeks back. I was getting people to weigh in on what they thought was happening in this print, and mainly asking—is it a zombie? The general consensus is that, no, this is not a zombie, but rather a hungry individual who’s favourite food is tulips. Either way, the fabric is great and it deserved to be sewn up!
I decided to make our new Lawrence Top with the ruffle shoulder detail. I’m not 100% sure what type of fabric this is but it feels like a rayon blend, probably with cotton. It has a bit more structure to it than your average challis so it works really well for these ruffles!
The print is on a diagonal which was a challenge to cut! I had to resist the urge to cut in line with the print and make sure to follow the weave. I do love how the diagonal lines look on the finished garment. It’s not often you see this kind of print so it feels like a unique garment in many ways.
This Lawrence Top is lightweight, fun, and really cute styled with different bottoms. I can see myself wearing this one all year round! Not only that, but it is a quick sew that is really satisfying to whip up in an afternoon.
I’d love to know what you think of this print and whether you feel it is giving zombie or something else. You can find the new Lawrence pattern in our shop!
