Are you planning some me-made gifts this year? We are too! Giving something handmade to someone special adds that extra layer of love and care. We have several patterns in our collection that make excellent sewing gift ideas.
Helen's Closet patterns that make great gifts:
Our most recent pattern, the Dogwood Apron, is an excellent gift for any maker. It is also perfect for all your fabric scraps and it doesn't take long to sew! Try making one for the gardener or handy-person in your life.
This pattern would make a very special gift for someone important to you. It may be a bit more involved for a gift project, but it will be a really amazing present. Pona isn't very fitted, so you don't have to rely on exact measurements to make one that will work beautifully!
Costa is an all-around me-made holiday win; free pattern, no sizing necessary, quick and easy to sew, and you can scrap-bust as well. Additionally, you could sew some Costa Totes and put some extra goodies inside, like a jar of reusable makeup pads, a sleep mask, a scented candle, jellybeans, whatever! That way, you accomplish a me-made gift stuffed with extra gifts that is also its own wrapping paper!
Blackwood is an excellent choice for a me-made garment gift because it's such a forgiving pattern. You don't really have to have the recipient's exact measurements to make them a cardigan that will fit them nicely. Not to mention, since this pattern is finished entirely with bands, it makes for a quick sew and an excellent pattern for batch sewing. You could even leave off the pockets to speed up the process!
This apron is an expansion pack for our York Pinafore pattern! It would make an extra-special gift for the chef or craftsperson in your family. Like Blackwood and Suki, the York Apron pattern is quite forgiving, so you don't need exact measurements.
This fun and easy scrap-buster is so quick to make that you can take care of a bunch of gifts at once, say, your coworkers, nieces and nephews, or friends! And - added bonus - it will help reduce your scrap pile!
