New year, new patterns! I’m beyond excited to be launching not one, but TWO new patterns this month to ring in the new year. What’s the perfect clothing for this time of year? Cozy, comfortable, convenient - you guessed it - sweats! We’ve got classic sweatpants (the Evergreen Sweatpants) and a classic zip-up hoodie (the Solstice Hoodie). Let’s take a closer look at these two new designs!

These two patterns have been a long time coming into the collection! I have been wanting to develop a classic sweatsuit for a while now and I’m so glad I finally went for it. There is nothing more classic and wearable than a regular zip-up and sweats, right!? I also love that these timeless silhouettes are gender inclusive and easy to whip up for partners, friends, and family!
The Evergreen Sweatpants
The Evergreen Sweatpants are mid-rise, pull-on pants designed for comfort and everyday wear. View A is a classic sweat pant with a tapered leg and elastic hem, and View B is an easy, relaxed short. This gender inclusive pattern is designed to be cozy and comfortable for everybody! Both views feature an elastic waistband with an optional interior drawstring, inseam pockets, and a slightly dropped crotch for a casual fit. The Evergreen Sweatpants are designed for medium to heavy weight knit fabrics such as jogging fleece or French terry. Whether you’re lounging at home or styling them for a casual day out, these sweatpants will quickly become a wardrobe staple.
The Solstice Hoodie
The Solstice Hoodie is a cozy, zip-up sweater with two length options. View A is a classic hip length and View B is a cute cropped length. Both views feature dropped shoulders, front pockets, and a hood with an optional drawstring. This gender inclusive pattern has a relaxed fit and is designed to be comfortable for everybody! Designed for medium to heavy weight knit fabrics such as jogging fleece or French terry, the Solstice Hoodie blends comfort and style and is perfect for lounging, layering, or casual outings. The Solstice Hoodie is a wardrobe staple you will be reaching for all the time!
Fabric Recommendations
Medium to heavy knit fabrics with minimal stretch (0-10% stretch). Sweatshirting and French terry are ideal. Choose a medium to heavy weight fabric for best results, approximately 9-14 oz (300 - 475 gsm). Lighter weight fabrics can work for a softer, more relaxed fit. Stretchier knits can be used but will result in a drapier look.

If you are looking for fabrics for Solstice, keep in mind that it also requires ribbing. You can use matching ribbing (which some stores offer) or contrast ribbing. If you do not have access to ribbing, you can substitute a stable but stretchy knit fabric like a cotton spandex.
Sewing Evergreen and Solstice
Both of these patterns are marked as ‘Advanced Beginner’ projects. This means that they are suitable for anyone who is comfortable with the sewing machine and is interested in learning some new skills and sewing with knits! The Evergreen Sweatpants are a nice, quick sew. They have fun pocket construction and a simple turn down waistband/elastic method. They also include an elasticated cuff.
The Solstice Hoodie is a bit more complex with pockets, a hood, and a separating zipper. There are also optional bound seam finishes for the hood and neck seams for those who want to explore that method. It’s a really satisfying project that will teach you some new skills along the way! We also love that it includes the use of ribbing for the cuffs and hem.
Wearing Solstice and Evergreen
It’s so fun to have patterns that can be made as a matching set or worn separately. Evergreen is ideal for lounging around the house or wearing out on cold walks or errand runs. I like to wear mine over my leggings in the morning when it is chilly on my way to the gym! Solstice is also a great loungewear piece but it truly works as an everyday, all the time, wearable wardrobe staple. You can pair it with other knits or with jeans. You can layer it under a jacket (like Spindrift)! You can wear it anywhere, anytime.
