Can you make the June Pants in a knit fabric? YES! I love these pants in knit and I am so excited to share them with you today. I wear these all the time, especially around the house because they are so comfortable.

How to Make Knit June Pants
There is really not too much to say about making knit June Pants because you can go right ahead and do it without any adjustments! If you would like a tighter fit you can size down, but if you are looking for a loose fit or you are using a fabric without much stretch, you can sew these as-is!
Fabrics you can use for this include:
- Bamboo or cotton jersey
- Rib knits
- Sweater fleece
- French terry

Should you skip the pockets? I will say that the pockets add bulk, especially if sewn in a rib knit or sweater knit. I would skip them or sew them in a lightweight jersey or even a woven. These are hidden inseam pockets so you have lots of options there.

Can I make the petal shorts? YES! You can totally sew the petal shorts view in a knit!

The only change here is that you want to cut your binding pieces on the cross grain rather than on the bias. Cutting on the bias is not necessary with stretchy fabrics.
- We recommend using the “alternative binding method” on pages 19-20 for sewing knit binding.

My knit June Pants are extra long (we added length to make them full length) and they are made in a bamboo cotton rib knit. I love how drapey and heavy this fabric is, it makes it feel amazing when worn. I am really into the fit and the look.

We did not do the pockets on these pants because the rib knit is pretty bulky as-is. We did sew the drawstring in the rib knit and we left the hem raw because this fabric does not fray.

My knit June Shorts are made in bamboo jersey for both the main and the binding. These are super soft and comfortable, they make the perfect PJ shorts. You can pair your knit June Pants with a matching Slocan Tank like I did here! It is fun to use the seam fabric on the binding for Slocan and June to tie it together.

I hope this inspires you to try knit June Pants! I really do reach for these pants nearly every other day so I can attest to their wearability! We have a blog post about lowering the rise on June if you want, so you can get the perfect fit for you.
