New Dawson and Jackson Tees

Making new knit tops is one of my favourite things to do when I’m in the mood for a quick sew! When you have a pattern you love, it’s so satisfying to whip up a fresh tee or tank in a new, fun fabric. This week, I made our Dawson Top AND our Jackson Tee! I cut them both out and sewed them both in one session. I love how they turned out!

For my new Jackson Tee, I went with a colour that I don’t have in my t-shirt collection: a bright, bold, red. This is a bamboo cotton jersey knit from Blackbird and it is so incredibly soft and cozy. I love this cheerful red shade, too! This is my first time using this blend and I was impressed! It has the softness of a straight bamboo jersey but it is a bit less slinky. It’s a perfect knit!

I made this Jackson a little bit shorter than the pattern is drafted because I like a bit of a cropped length on some of my tees. I wear a lot of high waisted pants and I often style tees with a french tuck (tucked only in the front). If the tee is longer, it results in too much fabric pooling around my sides and back.

My new Dawson is made in bamboo jersey from Discovery Fabrics, which is an ideal fabric for Dawson. It is so stretchy and soft and incredibly comfortable. I’ve been wearing this top a ton! The neutral black and white stripe goes with everything and it makes an excellent layer under overalls. I have more of this knit left and I plan to make a Dawson Turtleneck, too!

I made this Dawson using the View A neckline and the View C sleeve. This is the first Dawson Top in my wardrobe with this combo and I am loving it. I’ll definitely be making more! I did not crop this one as I intended to style it fully tucked into pants or layered under dresses/pinafores/overalls. I like things a bit longer in this case, so they don’t come un-tucked!

I had a blast whipping up these new wardrobe staples!
