I love using my sewing skills to whip up something festive this time of year! Sometimes it’s fancy and sometimes it’s simple, either way, I enjoy having an excuse to use the shiny, shimmery fabrics that are available around the Holidays.
I decided to make our Dawson Top in a speckled, sparkly jersey knit fabric from L’oiseau Fabrics. The fabric is called “Shimmery Skies” and it really does shimmer! I love the way the shiny dots look like a starry night.
I chose to make view A (the higher neck) with the view C sleeves (the shorter sleeves). I also made this top a cropped top because I only got a small amount of this fabric and I wanted to sew a matching holiday top for my niece, too!
This was such a quick sew. I love making t-shirts because I can construct them on my serger and they come together so fast! I had this top in mind for my Christmas party coming up this weekend and I am so glad I went for it. It is so cute and comfy and just so much fun. I know I’ll get lots of wear out of it during the holidays or for other special occasions like Birthdays.
Dawson is a total chameleon of a pattern. With three necklines, three sleeves, and the ability to alter the hem length—you can make SO MANY different looks! The style changes depending on the fabric you choose, and this sparkly jersey totally elevates it! It's the perfect sewing project for a quick and easy holiday top!
Happy Holidays!
