Summer Saltspring Tank

I have been combing through my stash this summer and organizing, cataloging, and evaluating fabrics. It is overwhelming to look at them alL, but not any more overwhelming than having no idea how much is in there. I'm glad to have taken some of the mystery out, and now I have all my fabrics in my phone, so I can browse through them whenever I go to the store to remind myself of all the great things I have and really want to sew with already! For this process I used Trello, but there are many apps that do specifically fabric storage, too. When tidying up, I had to deal with alllll the little pieces of fabric I had kept from previous projects thinking 'this is big enough to make something out of'. 9 times out of 10 it really wasn't, but I found a couple of great pieces just big enough for a Saltpsring Tank. Here is the first of two I have made so far! You can read about this hack on the Sewaholic blog. I kept this version simple and did not add the ruffle detail on the bottom, but I have made that version in the past, too! The hack is super simple and satisfying to make. I did a FBA to get the fit right and I am really happy with the relaxed, breezy look of this top. It is one of my favourite things to throw on with shorts for a perfect summer ensemble. I used the facing method for this version and thanks to the under-stitching and anchoring to the sides, it doesn't flip to the outside at all. The fabric used is a rayon poplin from Blackbird Fabrics, now sold out. I really get a lot of use out of simple camisoles and I am really excited to make the new True Bias Ogden cami, soon! I am envisioning the perfect collection of layering tanks & cardigans for fall.
