I’m excited to welcome my sister, Tracy, back to the blog! It’s been ages since she’s been featured here on Helen’s Closet (last time was way back when she was pregnant in 2018). We are also shining a spotlight on Tracy’s mother-in-law today because she is the one who made this gorgeous Wildwood Jacket for her. Bravo, Cathy!
Cathy is one of those sewists who can make anything. She sews so many amazing projects for Tracy and her kids and I am always blown away by her work. This Wildwood Jacket is no exception! When Tracy told me that Cathy was going to make one for her, I was like “do you have any idea how lucky you are?” It is certainly no small feat to make a quilted jacket, let alone to whip one up for somebody else! Am I a little jealous? Maybe!
Tracy and Cathy chose sandwashed cotton for the outer layer of this jacket and a beautiful striped woven cotton for the lining. Tracy liked my green jacket from the photoshoot so this is recreating that look in a darker colour. Cathy went for it with the crosshatch quilting (respect!) and it looks incredible.
I love this deep burgundy colour and it’s got me hankering for another Wildwood! I wear this green one all the time because it is the perfect weight and it just keeps getting softer with every wear. Truly one of my favourite garments ever.
In case you noticed the little bits of dirt on the jacket, that was because this happened just before we took the photos:
Who can resist a zip line!?
Thanks to Tracy for modelling this fab jacket and special thanks to Cathy for making it!
