We’re married!!! I am so happy to say that the big day went amazingly well and we are officially married! We had such an incredible time and I am so glad we did it. It was hard work but well worth the effort because having everyone we love in one place was so special, it is hard to even put into words. It was a perfect day!
I had a lot of fun prepping for the wedding, especially sewing garments for us to wear. I ended up making my dress, Sam’s shirt, our outfit changes, and a couple of cute Sam Aprons for us to wear during dinner! Today I want to share our outfit change looks. I promise there will be a more in-depth post about the wedding dress eventually but I want the official photographer photos for that one!
We both knew we wanted outfits to change into once the dancing started. We both run very hot and even though it was a cooler day, it was very humid and we were sweating! I cannot tell you how relieved we both were to have an outfit change! It was so amazing to take off the heavy dress and put on this cute little linen outfit for dancing. Sam was also beyond happy to change out of his full length wool pants.
I made a mini Reynolds Dress for myself and a Tofino Top and Ukee Shorts set for Sam. This is his third matching Tofino/Ukee set! You can see his red one here and his blue one here. For my mini Reynolds, I made several changes. I shortened the shorter dress view a little bit, I widened it at the hem like I did on this hack here, and I made the neckline lower like I did on this hack here. I then cut a large hem facing and sewed it on the outside of the dress for a little visual detail. I love how this turned out! It is a combination of many hacks and ideas and it is the perfect little dancing dress!
We weren't actually planning on having matching outfit changes, but I had picked out this pink floral print from Blackbird Fabrics for mine and when I saw that there was a green colourway, I got some in hopes that Sam would be on board. When we saw them in person we knew it was perfect! How could we not? This is like a sewist's dream come true!
I love this viscose linen blend fabric and it is actually the same as the blue matching set I made for Sam previously. He is a big fan of the texture, weight, and drape of it. It is breezy without feeling thin. It has a linen vibe without so many wrinkles. I can totally see why he loves it now that I have a garment in it, too!
I am so glad I managed to make these outfits for us. We had a huge dance party at the wedding—at one point nearly every single person was busting a move! We boogied the night away in these looks and we had the best time ever!!
