I hope you can forgive the absence of the weekly last Wednesday, Sam and I decided to take a short trip down to Seattle for a few days and as much as I wanted to post about all the great things in the blogosphere, I overestimated the time I would have pre-vacation to throw it together. I’ll have some pictures of the trip to share with you on Friday, but for now, here’s what’s going on in the sewing world!
NewsSo many pattern releases in the last 2 weeks! Colette patterns just dropped the Wren dress, a knit wrap-esque dress with two very nice views. Grainline Studios released the Tamarack Jacket, a transitional jacket for fall and spring seasons. I am loving the quilted texture of this jacket! Cashmerette launched her pattern line, kicking things off with the Appleton Dress. This dress has already been so successful and it’s no surprise, it looks so fabulous on everyone! Pauline Alice released the Rosari Skirt, a cute little button front number with 4 pocket options. That’s right, 4! I think the zipper pocket version is my favorite of the samples. MakesLauren’s Stacie Jean Jacket looks amazing, and she really went through the wringer getting the fit right. It was so worth it in the end though, it looks perfect!I am IN LOVE with Kelli’s octopus pyjamas! Every time I see this print come up I fall in love all over again. She did a great job pattern matching the front and pocket, it really adds to the professional look of the PJ’s, if that is a thing...
Meg totally killed it these past couple weeks with two fantastic makes. Her Saltbox top turned out great, I love the pop of colour on the shoulders. She also made my favourite version of the Appleton wrap dress so far.
Michelle posted another instalment in her beautiful travel photo series, showcasing one of her gorgeous shirt dresses. The green colour of this dress is so striking, and the blue buttons are a lovely accent.
Rachel’s choice of fabric for her Morris Blazer is so good! I have contemplated the Morris for a while now, but her version is truly selling it to me. Lauren made a short version of the Kielo Wrap Dress, and she gave a great tip about topstitching down the sides so the ‘wings’ don’t pop out when it is wrapped. Rachel’s Venice blazer shoot had me pining for sunsets on the canal and gelato for breakfast! I am all for the me-made vacation, it is a great chance to take pictures and show off your makes!ResourcesPortia did a great tutorial on how to make a basic scuba knit pencil skirt.
Collette did a series on how to sew knits, you can find all the parts here. There is also a free excerpt from their new book on sewing knits.
