Wednesday Weekly #146

Happy Wednesday, makers! I have been away for the past week visiting NYC and attending Camp Workroom Social! It was sooooo much fun and I got to a take a jeans-making class from Lauren Taylor herself! Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty #blessed to be a part of this community and my sew-jo is going crazy. All the pattern releases this week have got me dreaming up head to toe me-made outfits and putting way too much fabric in my cart. I hope you are all having a suitably spooky end of October! News (clockwise from top left) Hey June Handmade released the Kendrick Overalls. Tilly and the Buttons released the Nora Top and Ness Skirt. Sew Over It released the Jessie Coatigan. Sew House Seven released the Marlo Field Tee. Orange Lingerie released the Mystic Bra. The Noodlehead backpack from Making Magazine is now available for purchase. Community The Fold Line re-launched their website this week and they have sewing patterns for sale now! Check out the new site here. Closet Case Patterns and True Bias are hosting #sewfrosting! Make some room in your sewing life for the fun and frivolous makes, not just the everyday basics. Learn more about this sewing challenge here. Makes I am obsessed with this gathered skirt York Pinafore from Fa Sew La. This Honeycomb dress from Willow and Stitch is too cute. Another stunning dress from Lilacs and Lace. Do not miss this crazy pink coat from Kat Makes. These Lander Pants from the Sewing Rabbit are ace! I can’t get over this color-blocked Kelly Anorak from La Mercerie. This beautiful cardigan from Style Sew Me is a showstopper. Sablecraft has me swooning over the Deer and Doe Magnolia dress. This Wasp Dress from the Petite Republic is really cool. Resources Heather Handmade answers the question, ‘What is Interfacing?’ I enjoyed this reflection on self-doubt from Rochelle. On the Podcast Carolyn Norman joins us to talk about sewing as a form of artistic expression. She shares stories from almost 50 years of sewing and inspires us to look at our sewing hobby as more than just making clothes. We talk about finding inspiration in your everyday life, being buried with your favourite fabrics, and her column in Sewn Magazine. Listen here.
