The second indie pattern bundle was released yesterday for Sewing Indie Month. It is such a steal at $25 - $38, and a great chance to check out lots of different indie pattern designers. I'm particularly stoked for the Nettie Bodysuit and the Nautilus Swimsuit. You can read more about Sewing Indie Month here.
Named Patterns has released their fall collection, New Black! "The new collection is urban, modern and current, but also classic and timeless. The garments are casual and clean-cut, with carefully designed, elaborate details."
The first half of the Refashioners 2015 wrapped up this week with Portia's lovely kimono-style jacket. It was such an inspiring month, and it will be really cool to see what people start coming up with now! The event is now open to the public for submissions, check it out here for more info. To get inspired, you can see all the makes so far here. You have until September 27th to submit!

Katie and Lindsay both made Thread Theory's Jedediah Shorts for their men this week. They both turned out great, I'll definitely have to make this one for Sam next summer.
How can you not swoon over Sallie's new dress? It is just gorgeous, and it helped her get her sew-jo back, which is always a good thing!
Heather made a fantastic sundress for those last days of summer, and she did a corresponding post on low bust adjustments to go with it, super awesome.
Tasha shared the ups and downs of sewing a complex garment with her extensive post about the sarong dress saga. It truly was a feat, but it turned out amazing, I mean, seriously, how cool is this dress?!
Speaking of amazing, Caroline shared her second instalment of her one year one outfit project - a hand embroidered dress for which she MADE HER OWN FABRIC. It is so inspiring to see her reaching for the stars with her garment making, she really put her all into this one and it shows. The embroidery pattern she designed is really beautiful and, as always, she brought her uncanny sense of style and grace to this dress. It is truly a one of a kind piece, bravo, Caroline!
Nat made a really fun Belcarra Blouse, I am loving those colours!
Meg shows us how to dip-dye with this fun white and yellow summer dress.
Yetunde really killed it with this green dress, she looks like a beautiful mermaid princess queen of everything!
Katy's mega pleated top is so unique and inspiring, what a wonderful shape and texture! Also, congrats to her for getting accepted into Parsons design school, we all know she is going to do amazing things there!
Erin made two items from the IndieSew fall collection, the Beatrix blouse and the Laurelhurst wrap. Both of these garments turned out beautifully and look like they will make excellent staples for fall.

She also announced that next year she will be hosting workshops all over the world, so keep checking back to see if she will be near you!

I had heard of Seamwork Magazine in the past, but I finally signed up for it this week. It is a great resource for quick and easy sewing patterns. They give you 2 patterns an issue for only 6 bucks! Not to mention the beautiful pictures and articles. This month they have included a simple top pattern and a drawstring pant pattern, both of which look very straightforward and elegant.
Wednesday Weekly #5
Happy September Everybody! I don't know about you guys, but since it feels as though the summer came to a screeching halt here in Vancouver when the rainstorm started over the weekend. It was the biggest storm to hit Vancouver in the last decade, knocking out the lights for 400,000 people! We were thankfully spared, but it did make me think about battery backups for sewing machines, although I guess it is a good opportunity to do some hand stitching by candlelight.
