I’m so excited to announce that to go along with our 10 year anniversary sale, we are re-launching our very first pattern, the Winslow Culottes. This is a re-mastering of Winslow to include the popular wrap pants hack in the pattern! Let’s take a look at the new Winslow and talk about the new wrap pants view.
All patterns are on sale this week for 25% off! No coupon code required. If you already own Winslow, you can download the new pattern with the new instructions and pattern pieces, all included with your previous purchase.

The Winslow Culottes were our very first pattern back in 2016. I started Helen’s Closet as a blog in 2015 and so this year we are celebrating our 10 year anniversary! It is hard to believe it has been a whole decade and that Winslow was the pattern that kicked it all off. Here are some pics from the initial Winslow Culottes launch!

I am so grateful that Winslow has been such a popular pattern in the sewing community. Even after all these years, it is still one of our best selling designs! The ultra wide legs are so fun to wear and the simple construction makes this pattern great for beginners who are looking to improve their sewing skills. Winslow includes 4 length options and now it includes a wrap pants view, too!

I made a wrap pants hack using Winslow back in 2018 and it has since become a popular way to wear Winslow. So much so that I thought - why not bake it right into the pattern!? We’ve updated the pattern and the instructions to include the wrap pants option. For my die-hard Winslow fans out there, fear not, the pattern remains the same, but now it has even more versatility! Here are the photos of my original wrap pants hack from 2018.

Now that Winslow has been remastered to include these wrap pants, we needed to do some new versions to add to the product photos! We used rayon crepe for the shorts, cotton/linen twill for the culottes, and plaid linen for the longer pants.

You can overlap the Winslow wrap pants in the front or the back to get different looks! I really like how it looks both ways and love to play around with the styling on these.

Some questions may arise when considering the wrap pants:
How do you put them on and take them off? You start with either the front or back, tie that around your waist, and then you pull the pants forward or backward between the legs to tie the other side. The pants do touch the ground when putting them on unless you bunch and hold them up with your hands.

Do they blow open at the sides? They can blow open at the lower leg but there is quite a lot of overlap. I find that at most, a strong wind may expose my lower thigh but no higher than that. You could subtly safety pin them closed if you were worried about it.

Do they drag on the ground when seated? These can drag on the ground when seated if not careful. You can pile the extra fabric up on your lap to prevent this. The longer the pants, the more they may drag. This is not a good garment option for wheelchair users as the fabric can easily fall down and get caught.

We have seen so many Winslows over the years and it continues to be a really fun pattern to watch. You can check out the Instagram hashtag to see thousands of examples! The sewing community has really embraced the Winslow wrap pants hack and has made some incredible versions.

We hope you give Winslow a try if you haven’t already! If you already own Winslow, you can download the new pattern with the new instructions and pattern pieces, all included with your previous purchase.
