If you are sewing View A, you can hem the front and back of the skirt separately. If you are sewing View B, you will be hemming the whole bottom edge at once. Either way, the steps are the same and you can follow the instructions below.

First, turn up the bottom edge of the skirt 1/4" (0.6 cm), and press with your iron.

Then, turn up the bottom edge of the skirt again 1" (2.5 cm), press again, and pin in place. You can use a ruler or a hem gauge to ensure the hem is even all around the bottom edge of the skirt.

Next, topstitch 7/8" (2.25) from the hem. You will want the wrong side of the skirt facing down on your sewing machine, towards the feed dogs. This will give your hem a cleaner result.

Press one more time, and you're done!

You have now completed the body of your Donovan Skirt! Next time, we will start working on the waistband. Let us know if you have any questions in the comments below!
