Summer has officially arrived here and things are heating up fast! I love swimming and sunshine but I also burn easily and I try my best to be smart about sun protection. This new Dawson Top swim rashie is perfect! I made it out of UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) fabric from Discovery and it is perfect for hot beach days, paddle boarding, and really any time I’m out and about in the sun!

I made this swim rashie a few months ago for our trip to Cancun this past winter. That’s where we got these fun pics! The sun was really hot and I was pale from the winter season so I was so grateful to have this layering piece.
Not only does it cover my skin, the fabric has a UPF rating of 50+! This is the Magic Yarn Graphene Jersey in “Sorbet”. It almost has a silvery appearance up close. Here is what Discovery says about Graphene: “Graphene is the hardest and the thinnest nano material in the world. It basically consists of a single layer of carbon atoms that arrange themselves in a two-dimensional honeycomb design.“
I made our Dawson Top pattern, view A. I did not make any adjustments. The fabric works well for this pattern and has the right amount of stretch. I had previously made a Dawson swim rashie and I still like that one, too, but the fabric was a little bit thicker. I wanted full length sleeves and body this time around and this nice thin fabric dries easily and hardly feels like wearing anything at all!
I love how this turned out and I really like this fun print. Discovery has loads of cool sun protective fabrics in a lot of fun designs, it is honestly hard to choose! This particular print is sold out but there are other options in the Magic Yarn Graphene Jersey, Sun Lite Jersey and the Breathe Tek Athletic that would be great for Dawson Tops!
