Today we are so excited to welcome Sara Kim of the Youtube channel Sewing Therapy for a March Top and Dress pattern sewalong! Sara is an educator and sewist here in Canada, and she shares all of her amazing projects and tutorials on Youtube. If you're a visual learner like us, her channel is a fantastic resource for tutorials, tips and tricks, as well as start-to-finish sewalongs like the one we are sharing today.

I love Sara's channel for the soothing music, beautiful shots, and of course—helpful sewing information! When I was brainstorming ways to share a March Sewalong with you, she came to mind immediately as the just the person to do it. This was a paid collaboration with Sara and we are so excited to have worked with her on this project.
Sara made not one, but two beautiful versions the March dress. One is light, the other is dark, but they both evoke her sweet and serene style. Both versions are View A, but for the light version she opted for the shorter sleeves from view C of the pattern.
When I designed March, I imagined that the center front and back panels would be a great space to play with design choices—whether that's embroidery, experimenting with print direction, or colorblocking. For her versions, Sara opted to highlight some very special fabrics from her shop. The striped fabric is from the Ruby Star Society Warp and Weft collection, and the dark floral print is a delicate quilting cotton. This is such a great way to showcase a beautiful fabric you've been saving, use up some scraps, or get creative with the pattern placement!
Something else I love about Sara's channel and her projects is her attention to detail. She really takes her time to think through every aspect of a garment (those contrast pockets!), and make sure every inch is sewn beautifully. The whole experience is incredibly relaxing, just like sewing should be!
Here are the details for Sara's versions of the March dress:
Sara’s Measurements: Bust (33”), Waist (28”), Hips (36”), Height: 5’4”
Size Made: 4
Adjustments: Shortened the sleeves to 7.5" and lengthened the hem to 17”.
"I thought I wanted a deep neck opening but changed my mind after trying it on. It was too deep. For a quick fix, I used short zigzag stitches (a few stitches in a couple spots) to make the opening shorter."

Washing cotton in warm beige from Dailylike Canada for the bodice
Warp + Weft Wovens Jubilee Sprinkles by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society (center front/back panel).
