It's that time of year again! Although this year is undeniably different due to COVID-19, many sewists are still planning to participate in Me Made May and embrace this gentle challenge to wear more handmade garments.
I know for me, working from home means I often wear loungewear or even PJs all day long. Some days that is great, but other days it can make me feel pretty down and a little sloppy (real talk).
I want to use Me Made May this year as an opportunity to get dressed up for work! I love working on our sewing patterns and being in my studio and I feel like I deserve to look cute while doing it! I also miss wearing some of the more 'fun' garments I usually save for outings like restaurants or gatherings with friends. Just because we can't do those things doesn't mean we can't wear the clothes, right?
My Me Made May pledge is to get properly dressed for work each day and include at least one me-made garment in the look. No sweatpants, no dirty t-shirts, and NO PAJAMAS. I am going to exclude weekends.
I hope this gets you thinking about your Me Made May pledge should you want to participate. You can learn more about it here.
I also wanted to share our top patterns in our collection for Me Made May this year! Many of us are at home most of the time, so we have focused on loungewear and easy, wearable separates. Happy sewing!
The Ashton Top is the perfect TNT woven tank pattern. We love the cropped view for pairing with our high-waisted jeans and skirts! Ashton has almost 1000 tags on Instagram! Check out the hashtag here.
The York Pinafore is our of our best selling patterns and it's easy to see why! It's unique style and laid-back attitude make it perfect for everyday wear. Throw it on over your favorite tee and you're good to go!
The Blackwood Cardigan is a staple in so many people's wardrobes. It makes for the ideal work-from-home layer because it still looks sharp in your Zoom call while keeping you cozy on the couch. A must have for any me-made wardrobe!
Ahhh the Winslow Culottes. Our first pattern ever! We still adore this design for it's simplicity and versatility. Not to mention these pants really are #SecretPajamas. Swishing around at home in Winslow is sure to bring a smile to your face.
We are wearing the Yanta Overalls so much lately because of all the yard work and gardening we are getting done! Thank goodness for Yanta because they always stay up, you can get really messy in them, and they are so comfortable to work in.
Of course, we can't not mention the Avery Leggings and Elliot Sweater/Tee! AKA the ultimate loungewear duo. I love love LOVE my Avery Leggings for my at-home Yoga classes and workouts and Elliot is truly a staple in my everyday wardrobe.
