October is Sam’s birthday month and I always like to make him a little something special. He’s really into spooky season - horror movies, skeletons, and anything Halloween related. Naturally, when I saw this skeleton rayon print I had to get it for him! I also saw this fish one that I knew he would love. Two black fabrics only means one thing! Batch sewing! I made him two new Tofino Tops for his birthday.

I used his pattern from our photoshoot for both of these tops. Sam LOVES the Tofino Top and has been wearing his samples all the time. He runs quite hot so a short sleeve, breezy top is perfect for him, even in the fall! You can check out this post on his matching set to see how I grade between sizes for his fit. He is very broad shouldered and has smaller hips.
I think one of the reasons he likes the Tofino Top so much is because he has not owned many rayon shirts. He usually ends up getting cotton or flannel button ups, sometimes with spandex blended in (which can make him sweat!). Rayon is so breathable, light, and airy and he loves it! The fit on Tofino is also nice and relaxed and breezy so that helps, too.
These fabrics are both so fun! I got the skeleton one from my local Fabricland, and the fish one from Mimi Fabrics. It was really nice to be able to batch sew these at the same time. I just threaded the machine with black and I did every step twice!
I know Sam will be rocking these Tofino Tops all year round. It’s so nice to have a quick and easy project that I can whip up for him, especially since I know it will fit and that he will love it.
